We are very fortunate to have access to technology at St Anne and it's important that we (students, teachers, parents) all are on the same page when it comes to it's use in the class room.
I am a 21st century educator as as such, blending technology with traditional methods of teaching are a large part of how I teach. Technology is a tool we use to leverage learning. It should be used to engage and improve learning outcomes and not as a reward.
Technology is not given as free time in our classroom. We should not be playing online games or watching videos on Youtube. If a student is finished all their work, then we have a class library full of interesting books and many Makerspace items that students can work on. There will also be times when students will be allowed to use technology for coding, to create green screen, iMovies, or work on other ideas.
Student's Personal Chromebooks
There were a few inquiries about students bringing their own devices to school. If you feel confident they can take care of it, then please allow them to bring their device to school with them. This will ease the burden of trying to borrow enough of them for class use.
Students have the choice of bringing it back home each day or can leave it in the class room in the cupboard if they like.
